What is the global medical community saying about gastric balloons?
The development of the surgical treatment of morbid obesity.
The operations result in significant weight loss, and the current operations have a mean lasting weight loss of about 50 percent of excess body weight, with improvement or resolution of most obesity-associated conditions. There is evidence that even modest to moderate weight loss in these individuals has significant medical benefit.

Intragastric balloons: a temporary treatment for obesity.
Intragastric balloons are a temporary non-surgical obesity treatment that induces short-term weight loss by partially filling the stomach to achieve satiety and reduce food intake. (2) Moderate weight loss may be achieved if patients adhere to a weight-reduction program. Weight gain often recurs when the balloon is removed after six months.

Intragastric balloon for weight loss: results in 100 individuals followed for at least 2.5 years.
Intragastric balloon therapy was relatively innocuous and associated with successful weight loss and maintenance at 2.5 years in a quarter of participants. It represents a valid option for weight loss.
